Yuvan Shankar Raja (Mohammed Khaliq) is a renowned music director who works primarily in Tamil and Telugu Film industries. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the son of music legend Isaignani Ilayaraja. His brother Karthik Raja is also a music director. He has a sister Bhavadharini who is a national award winning singer.

Yuvan Shankar Raja started his career as a music director at the age of 16 with the film Aravindan. After initial struggle, Yuvan got his break with the film Thullavadho Ilamai which marked the debut of actor Dhanush. Yuvan has since evolved as one of the most-sought after musicians in Tamil and Telugu. Within a span of 15 years, Yuvan Shankar Raja has worked in more than 100 films and is considered as one of the most versatile musicians of this generation. He has expored and used various genres of music in his compositions ranging from folk and R&B to Techno and heavy metal.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is immensely popular with the younger generation and has often drawn praise for his re-recordings from both audience and critics alike. Yuvan Shankar has won two Filmfare Awards: Best Music Director for his brilliant work in 7G Rainbow Colony in Tamil and a special jury award for his work in the telugu film Oy!. Yuvan Shankar Raja became the youngest music director to win the Filmfare Award in Tamil at the age of 25. He also won an award at the Cyprus International Film Festival Award in 2006 for Raam, becoming the only Indian Composer to win an award.

Initially, Yuvan Shankar Raja was not successful with most of the initial soundtracks failing to make an impression. The film Poovellam Kettuppar got positive reiews and his work was appreciated. His major break came from the Ajith Kumar starrer Dheena, directed by the then debutant A.R.Murugadoss. After Dheena, Yuvan came into prominence. He worked on films like Thulluvadho Ilamai, Nandha, Mounam Pesiyadhe, all receiving positive reviews for him. The film Kaadhal Kondein drew unanimous praise from both audience and industry for Yuvan while he also made the first remix song in a Tamil film Kurumbu.

2004 - 2007 was a high point for Yuvan Shankar Raja with films like 7G Rainbow Colony, Manmadhan, Kanda Naal Mudhal, Sandakozhi, Kalvanin Kadhali and Pudhupettai fetching extraordinary reviews from audience thus making him immensely popular among the audience. Films like Paruthiveeran, Thimiru, Deepavali, Chennai 600028 and Billa only further strengthened his position. Billa's background score and theme music fetched rave reviews for Yuvan.

Yuvan also started the trend of releasing singles in Tamil films with Vaanam and Mankatha. He also got positive reviews for films like Paiyaa and Naan Mahaan Alla.

Yuvan has also worked in Telugu films like Seshu, Malli Malli Chudaali and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, thus establishing himself in Andhra Pradesh too. His film Oy! topped the charts fetching him lots of accolades.

In recenttimes, he was worked in films like Anjaan, Vanavarayan Vallavarayan, Biriyani and Arrambam among others.
